"Birth of a Robot" for electric cello and live electronics was written for Jeffrey Zeigler as part of the Núcleo Integral de Composición workshop in Mexico. It has three parts: the building of the robot, connection of circuits, and birth. It is inspired by the rapid developments of technology in our society. Shall we use technology to enhance our abilities and ourselves? Shall we be wary of technology turning against us? All of these are relevant questions in the era of automation, robots, and cyborgs.
