R-a.M

I wrote "Random-access memory" inspired by the music of David Lang. Not only did I want the piece to be unpredictable in the same way "Cheating, Lying, Stealing" by Lang is, I also wanted to create a solo violin piece similar to "Press Release" by Lang, where two contrasting timbres produce two distinct voices that come out of a single instrument. I wrote the piece for my friend Mariya Polishchuk, who has been playing my music since the beginning of my career as a composer. This piece is the best way I have to thank her for always being there.
